Colin Rhys’ desire to explore the human experience in relation to environment and creativity launched in 2004, with his role as owner/executive director of the RHYS art gallery. Nine years, stunning international exhibitions in six different continents & over thirty-two countries later, RHYS was a globally-recognized brand. Ignited by his unequivocal success in fine arts, Colin was driven to the intersections of design and architecture in 2010.
He began building and designing bespoke residences in the greater Los Angeles area for the Xanadu Group, with the purpose to enrich human experience in physical spaces. His Xanadu spaces were more than just luxury homes, with work also spanning commercial projects, high profile events like Burning Man / Lighting in a bottle / Coachella, along with site specific installations commissioned globally. Colin became a master craftsmen of entire environments, capable of creating aesthetic worlds for his clients that held not only innovation, but purpose.
By 2015, after recognized successes on multimillion dollar projects—several of which earned international acclaim, awards and critical acknowledgement, including multiple features on Bravo’s Million Dollar Listing – Colin was ready for his next creative evolution. Hyperloop became that visionary opportunity, where Colin’s experimentalist passion and expertise in design intersect with a company whose mission will rewrite our ideas of transportation.
In bringing Virgin Hyperloop One (VHO) to the Middle East and Asia, Colin has played an instrumental role in leading the team that secured the world’s first commercial Hyperloop contracts in history. He continues advise on the global creative & sales strategy for VHO by utilizing his hallmark method of Vision Development. Colin has led VHO’s efforts across the GCC region to become the pre-eminent Hyperloop Company.
In doing so, he has met regularly with several world leaders including: HRH Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, HH Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and HH Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum of United Arab Emirates, HRH Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad bin Isa Al- Khalifa of Bahrain, French President Emmanuel Macron, Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Colin designed VHO’s Vision for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in collaboration with Foster & Partners and curated the Hyperloop Exhibition in collaboration with Bjarke Ingels, which premiered at the Venice Biennale.
Colin Rhys founded March Hare to help accelerate national transformation objectives for government clients though the creation of new avenues for foreign direct investment. Using his signature method of Vision Development, March hare has successfully delivered dozens of projects globally for both government and private clients. March Hare currently maintains offices in Lake Como, Malibu, Riyadh.
March Hare launched the Red Sea Highway, Saudi Arabia’s newest vision brand and tourism icon. A 2030 Kilometer green spine that will bind the western region of the kingdom and deliver unprecedented opportunities for communities to thrive along the way through cultural preservation, investment and global exposure. The project compromised of complete masterplan, delivery consortium and BOT execution strategy.
Most recently Colin has turned his attention towards launching KARAVAN as a new nomadic luxury hospitality brand dotting some of the most exotic places on earth. Anchored by iconic swimming pools designed by world famous architects, KARAVAN will re-define the idea of iconic experiences for the adventure seeker and deliver a series of world class destinations.
